Quality Improvement Commission
The Quality Improvement Commission (Qualitätsverbesserungskommission) is responsible for deciding how the so-called quality improvement funds (Qualitätsverbesserungsmittel) are allocated. These funds are provided by the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia to universities for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. Universities subsequently allocate portions of these funds to faculties and Central Scientific Institutions (Zentrale Wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen) offering degree programmes, such as CERES. The allocation of these funds is then determined by the respective institution-specific Quality Improvement Commissions.
In the field of Religious Studies, the funds have so far been used, among other purposes, to finance the following:
research and teaching staff positions;
a student coordination position providing advice and support to students;
positions for research assistants and student tutors, as well as tutorial programmes;
teaching assignments for external lecturers;
the acquisition of technical equipment;
the acquisition of textbooks;
support for field trips and other teaching-related excursions;
teaching administration
The members of the Quality Improvement Commission are elected every two years at the CERES General Assembly, with elections conducted according to status group. The current members of the Quality Improvement Commission are:
