Whether ancient love and lust deities, the spread of Buddhism, or the loval religious diversity of the Ruhr area - the undergraduate courses of the Religious Studies program give students insights into the history and present of religion(s). In Bochum the focus of courses are in terms of region on the vast double-continent of Asia and Europe. The undergraduate program is generally taught in German.
The newly designed MA program seeks to attract graduate students from around the world. The program courses are in English, free of charge and equips students with theoretical and methodological expertise from a wide range of disciplines to explore religion in its social and cultural environments. The program integrates distinct approaches in the study of religions, such as social scientific theories and methods with philological and historical research.
