Analysis of the Visual Language of the Buddhist Reliefs from Andhra, their Roman Elements and what Distinguishes them from Gandhara

Not even a single text remains from the flourishing Buddhist culture in Andhra. Today, only the stones survive. The project is an experiment which intends to show the possibility of “reading” 2000-year-old reliefs depicting lost narratives by means of the visual experience only, the general question being: how reliable is a “sensual reading” of depictions in foreign culture?
