Dr. Anna Neumaier and Dr. Frederik Elwert were awared with the prize for the best PhD theses by the German Association for Religious Studies (Deutschen Vereinigung für Religionswissenschaft, DVRW). Both did their doctor's degree at the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) and were supervised by Prof. Dr. Volkhard Krech.
Dr. Anna Neumaier's PhD project focused on religion in the internet and new forms of contemporary religiosity online, while Dr. Frederik Elwert analysed ethnic German migrants from former states of the USSR that are organised in free dominational churches as Mennonites, Baptists, and alike.
The award ceremony took place at the annual meeting of the DVRW in Erfurt, 27th of August 2015. The awards are awarded for outstanding scientific PhD-projects, that include methodological as well as thematic innovations for the discipline of religious studies.
