CERES now independent Department

With the beginning of October 2015, the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) is an independent institution within the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, called Zentrale Wissenschaftliche Einrichtung (Central Scientific Institution).

This structure is comparable with Departments for Advanced Study, as to be found at Anglo-Saxon universities. This new structure enables CERES researchers from different fields to work together without faculty borders in the scietific exploring of religions. Before its independence, CERES was integral part of the Faculty for Evangelical Theology. CERES does now administrate the study programmes, the programmes for young researchers, all international research projects, and all activities in the field of knowledge transfer to an audience outside the university itself.
