Religion and Metaphorical Thinking in Society: Insights from the Humanities

The science communication project WiKo brings the research of CRC 1475 into dialogue with wider audiences. Its goal is not only to communicate current findings on metaphors and religion, but also to demonstrate how humanities research contributes to understanding contemporary society and culture.

Building on successful formats established during the first funding phase, WiKo develops a broad range of activities for different audiences. These include podcasts, public events, school labs, and digital communication formats that make the CRC’s research accessible beyond academia. Particular emphasis is placed on participation and exchange, inviting students, educators, cultural practitioners, and interested members of the public to engage with the ways metaphors shape religious and social life.

The project also fosters conversations about the role of the humanities more generally in addressing current societal challenges, including questions raised by digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and changing forms of public communication.
