Research Assistant at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Department of Old Testament Studies / Theology of the Old Testament

Ruth Ebach studied Protestant Theology at the WWU Münster and took several courses at the Department of Ancient Near East Studies. As a member of the graduate school of the cluster of excellence “Religion and Politics in Pre-Modern and Modern Cultures”, she wrote her PhD-thesis on the different images of strangers and the Israelite self-construction of identity in the biblical Book of Deuteronomy („Das Fremde und das Eigene. Die Fremdendarstellungen des Deuteronomiums im Kontext israelitischer Identitätskonstruktionen“).

Since 2013 Ruth Ebach works as a Research assistant at the Department of Old Testament of the University of Tübingen (Protestant Theology). She is especially interested in prophetical concepts and her actual project (Habilitation) deals with unfulfilled prophecy in the Old Testament. Since January 2017, she is member of the Steering Committee “Pentateuch“ of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL).
