Job Offer: One Post-Doc Position in History of Religions and Architecture

The Center for Religious Studies (CERES) invites applications for one postdoctoral position (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter/in) within the novel research project SaWa ("Transformations of Sacredness: Religious Architecture in Urban Space in 21st Century Germany"). The project will start the 1st of September 2018.

The project aims to analyse the transformation of contemporary sacred architecture's shaping and symbolic forms in Germany by combining approaches from religious studies and the history of architecture. For that purpose, Christian, Muslim and Jewish architecture since 1990, which includes new constructions, conversions of existing buildings and demolitions, shall be described and recorded in a data base. In addition selected buildings shall be analysed by qualitative in-depth case studies in regard to their relevance and position within the urban space.

Tasks:

Due to the focus on German architecture, the future holder of the position has to prove his/her ability of German skills (e.g. B2-C1 level).

Since the project is financed by a third-party funding, a teaching assignment is not mandatory.

Please send your application as one pdf-file under the title "Application SaWa" to martin.radermacher@rub.de until 31.03.2018.
