Film-documentary shows evacuation during the Russian occupation in Ukraine
On July 10, the RUB campus (University of Bochum) will host a screening of the documentary My Favorite Job and a conversation with Sashko Protyah, the film's author. The event was initiated and organized, among other people, by CERES PhD student Gleb Stukalin.
In the spring of 2022, the Ukrainian city of Mariupol was surrounded by Russian troops. Every day they used weapons of mass destruction against civilians. In mid-March, volunteers began evacuating people from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia. After each trip, they gathered to exchange information, support each other and talk about their traumatic experiences.
The film contains videos of volunteers filmed on mobile phones, the director's personal archive and animated models: images that by their very presence testify to the ban on filming Mariupol due to the hostilities. Any documentation made under the extreme danger of being killed by the occupying army, as these photos or videos may contain evidence of war crimes. The videos of mass destruction were recorded and filmed at the operators' own risk.
We invite you to join the event, spread the word and invite your friends. Now, when war news is becoming a routine background of life, when distinguishing truth from fake news became extremely difficult, it is more important than ever to make Ukrainian voices sound in Germany.

Навесні 2022 року українське місто Маріуполь було оточене російськими військами. Щодня вони застосовували зброю масового ураження проти мирного населення. У середині березня волонтери почали евакуйовувати людей з Маріуполя до Запоріжжя. Після кожної поїздки вони збиралися, щоб обмінятися інформацією, підтримати один одного та поговорити про свій травматичний досвід.
Фільм містить відео волонтерів, зроблені на мобільні телефони, особистий архів режисера та анімаційні моделі: зображення, які своєю наявністю свідчать про заборону на зйомки Маріуполя через воєнні дії. Будь-яка документація зроблена під надзвичайною небезпекою загинути від рук окупаційної армії, оскільки зазначені фото чи відео можуть містити докази військових злочинів. Відео масових руйнувань були записані та зняті з Маріуполя на власний ризик операторів.
Ми запрошуємо приєднатися до події, розповсюдити інформацію та запросити своїх друзів. Зараз, коли новини війни стають рутинним фоном життя та в час, коли складно відрізнити правду від фейків, як ніколи треба боротися за те, аби українські голоси було чутно в Німеччині.
