Religion and Atmospheres – Religious Atmospheres

This workshop is a closed meeting and for invited religious studies scholars only, who are working with the concept of “religious atmosphere.” The main goal is to bring into conversation scholars working on a topic of shared interest, thus learning from each other about different ways of conceptualizing atmospheres and studying them. This will involve questions such as: How can we conceptualize the term “(religious) atmosphere”? How should we proceed methodically when studying and analyzing the phenomena identified as “atmosphere”? What are the major challenges in the field of studying religious atmospheres? Guest speakers are Patrick Eisenlohr (Göttingen), Friedlind Riedel (Weimar), and Andreas Gregersen (Oslo).
