Former CERES member Bar Kribus receives prestigious Dan David Prize 2025
CERES congratulates: Archaeologist and former CERES employee Bar Kribus is one of the winners of the prestigious Dan David Prize 2025. The prize, awarded by the Dan David Foundation at Tel Aviv University, is endowed with 300,000 US dollars and honors interdisciplinary research achievements on human history that expand and complement traditional disciplinary boundaries and paradigms.
Bar Kribus researches the religious traditions of the Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews) and their relationships with other religious communities in Ethiopia. He combines archaeological approaches with field research and the analysis of written and oral sources. Kribus also worked on this at CERES: He headed the Beta Israel research project, which was temporarily based here, and was also involved in the JewsEast project.
The Dan David Foundation was established in 2000 by the Romanian-Israeli entrepreneur and philanthropist Dan David with an endowment of 100 million US dollars. Since then, it has awarded the world's most highly endowed prize in the field of history every year. The prize is awarded to international academics in early and mid-career phases in recognition of outstanding achievements and to support their future research projects.
