CERES Palais, room "Ruhrpott" (4.13)

Lunchbox Lecture, Nino Aivazishvili-Gehne (Bochum)

The Ingiloer are a Georgian-speaking minority in Azerbaijan. One part of this minority is Christian and the other part is Muslim. Ingiloer from Mosul are Sunni Muslims and proud of their own mosque erected in the village centre in the 18th century and of having their own ziarəts in the village. In talks about religiosity villagers often claim that they are more faithful than anyone else in the district. But then what does it mean to be a Muslim in the Ingiloy context?
