Mit Geistern sprechen: Metaphern in konfuzianischen Ritualtexten aus Korea
Das Teilprojekt B02 untersucht die religiösen Dimensionen des koreanischen Konfuzianismus in der Chosŏn-Zeit (16.–18. Jahrhundert). Während in der ersten Förderphase Erfahrungen von Transzendenz und Selbsttransformation im Mittelpunkt standen, richtet sich der Blick nun auf die Beziehung konfuzianischer Gelehrter zu Geistern, Ahnen und anderen übermenschlichen Wesen.
Im Zentrum stehen sogenannte chemun (祭文), rituelle Texte, die für Begräbnis-, Gedenk- oder Opferrituale verfasst und vorgetragen wurden. Diese oft poetischen Texte wenden sich unmittelbar an Verstorbene, Geister oder Gottheiten. Das Projekt untersucht, welche Metaphern verwendet werden, um solche Wesen zu beschreiben, anzusprechen und mit ihnen in Beziehung zu treten. Dabei geht es auch um konfuzianische Vorstellungen von Geist (sin 神), spiritueller Wirkmacht (yŏng 靈), Tod und Jenseits.
B02 erschließt ein umfangreiches Korpus koreanischer Ritualtexte und verbindet dabei Metaphernanalyse mit korpuslinguistischen Methoden. Indem es erforscht, mit welchen Metaphern Vorstellungen von übernatürlichen Formen des Daseins und die Kommunikation mit letzteren artikuliert werden, trägt das Projekt zu einem differenzierteren Verständnis konfuzianischer Religiosität bei.
