Der Menschenkörper als Metapher des Göttlichen. Anthropomorphismus in den religiösen Traditionen Südasiens

Das Teilprojekt widmet sich Metaphern als konstitutiv für die Entstehung und Entwicklung zweier divergierender Dynamiken im Hinduismus, Buddhismus und Jainismus von der Zeitenwende bis etwa 500 n. Chr.: der Manifestation des Hindugottes Viṣṇu in menschlicher Gestalt als Kṛṣṇa und Rāma sowie der Vergöttlichung der Figuren des Siddhārtha Gautama (d. h. des Buddha) und des Vardhamāna (d. h. des Jina). Es stellt die Entwicklungen innerhalb des Jainismus in den Vordergrund der Untersuchung, erforscht aber auch vergleichend Konzepte, die mit der Körperlichkeit des Göttlichen in Südasien zusammenhängen.
