The Arrest of our Colleague Prof. Dr. Behrooz Chamanara, Professor at the Kurdistan University, Sanandaj, Iran.
Update: On sunday, 4th of December 2022, our appeal has brought a first success: Prof. Dr. Behrooz Chamanara has been provisionally released. Thank you to all the supporters!

On Friday, November 25, 2022, Prof. Dr. Behrooz Chamanara, Alumnus of Georg August University Göttingen, and Professor at the Department of Kurdish Language and Literature at Kurdistan University, Sanandaj, was kidnapped and arrested by Iranian security forces.
Mr. Chamanara had been under heavy pressure from security forces for several days due to the current situation and therefore had not left the university campus for security reasons. He was summoned to a meeting in Kurdistan Governorate and was subsequently arrested on his way home. His family has not been informed of his whereabouts up to now.
 
We would like to emphasize that Prof. Chamanara is a scholar whose activities are limited to teaching and research and that he has not committed any illegal activity.
 
As colleagues of Prof. Chamanara and scholars in the field of Iranian Studies, we recognize his arrest as unlawful and demand his immediate release.
