Jenseits der Selbst-Kultivierung: Transzendenz-Momente in koreanischen Ego-Dokumenten konfuzianischer Prägung

Die religiöse Dimension des Konfuzianismus wird häufig in der Selbstkultivierung gesucht, verstanden als Streben nach Selbsttranszendenz. Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, die Gültigkeit dieser Annahme für koreanische Konfuzianer der Chosǒn-Ära (mit Fokus auf das 16. bis frühe 19. Jahrhundert) zu überprüfen, indem es Metaphern untersucht, die in Äußerungen über transformative Erfahrungen verwendet werden, wie sie in selbstdarstellenden Texten (Reiseberichte, Traumaufzeichnungen, Studientagebücher) zu finden sind. Mithin werden die Vorstellungen von und Erwartungen an das „Jenseits“ der Mitglieder der Literatenklasse in den Blick genommen.
