DESCRIPTION:The Zagros has been the contact zone of cultures\, religions\,
and political powers ever since we have historical records. It is also ho
me to many minorities\, both linguistic and religious.\n\nIn this workshop
we focus on the community commonly referred to as 'Gorani'. Despite deep
linguistic differences\, Gorani is perceived as a Kurdish dialect by most
of its speakers\, among whom we find adherents of the Ahl-e Haqq or Yaresa
n.\n\nPresentations on the dialectal diversity of Gorani\, its literary tr
adition and religious beliefs will be complemented with presentations on o
ther minorities of the region. In this context\, we attempt to throw light
on the historical relationship of communities in the Zagros and to unders
tand better what makes them affiliate to or alienate from their neighbours
.\n\nThe workshop will take place at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Ma
in.\n\nOrganisers:\n\nProf. Dr. Saloumeh Gholami (Goethe University Frankf
urt am Main)\nDr. Thomas Jügel (CERES\, RUB)
