DESCRIPTION:Belinda-Maria Peters\n«Die materielle Dimension von Kultur- u
nd Religionskontakt am Beispiel der missionsgeschichtlichen Sammlung der W
eißen Väter»\n\nAbstract: \n\nThe presentation deals with the question
of material objects having the capacity to become a source for studying cu
ltural and religious contact. The focus is on material objects that are pa
rt of missionary collections. These collections are a corollary of intensi
fied missionary activities of Christian orders and congregations starting
around the middle of the 19th century. At present\, their number is rapidl
y decreasing. Against this background\, the missionary collection of the s
o-called White Fathers congregation\, which was handed over to CERES in 20
21 and will serve as a case example\, is a stroke of luck. My first presen
tation on the topic will focus on a brief introduction to missionary colle
ctions\, especially of the collection of the White Fathers kept at CERES\,
the capacity of objects and missionary collections\, in general\, to cont
ribute to the study of religious contact\, the planned methodological appr
oach as well as a summary of the status quo.\nThe presentation will be hel
 d in German.
