DESCRIPTION:Gastvortrag in Englisch von Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Schmidt (Goeth
e-Universität Frankfurt)\n\nIn his Theory of Communicative Action (1981)
Jürgen Habermas had interpreted the history of social and philosophical m
odernization as “linguistification of the sacred”. In his most recent
major work Auch eine Geschichte der Philosophie (2019)\, he places a clear
ly different emphasis on the role of the phenomenon of the sacred for the
development of modern societies. The so-called "sacred complex" is now see
n as an anthropological deep-seated mechanism\, which in the event of cris
es of communicative socialization can assume a kind of “deficiency guara
ntee” in terms of ritual performances.
