DESCRIPTION:Guest lecture by David Albertson\n\nNicholas of Cusa is a mast
er of inventing various metaphors for the divine\, but it is important to
read his works in context. His ideas unfold within the dynamic development
of his thought from the 1440s to 1460s. David Albertson outlines several
dimensions of this development\, argues that the paradigmatic Cusan metaph
or is in fact the geometrical line\, and explains what this means for read
ing Cusanus today.\n\nDavid Albertson is Associate Professor of Religion a
t the University of Southern California\, in Los Angeles\, and the past pr
esident of the American Cusanus Society.\n\n
